As the years have gone by chatting on my PlayStation 4 and Discord via smart device with online friends, I've been smug. As each of them wear out multiple name brand headsets costing hundreds of dollars, I soldiered on with my $15 headset. Well, the cord on my headset is nearly broken now from years of mechanical strain, so I decided to replace it before it fails while I'm using it.

I wasn't about to buy big brand name, so I chose this for it's price and similarity to my old headset. My review title summarizes how I feel about this headset. There's things I really like about it and things I don't like.

My old headset was plug n' play from day one. I just plug in to my controller, put the headset on, flip the mic boom down and I'm ready. None of my friends complained about volume, unless I laughed very loudly. During the warm months, I use a portable air conditioner in my room to keep the temperature down, and while my gaming friends could hear it, it didn't annoy them.

These two nuances are why I like and dislike this headset.

Like: The noise cancellation does in fact work on this headset. My gaming friends only faintly hear my air conditioner when I run it full blast. In normal use, most of my friends can't even hear it running.

Dislike: The microphone is too sensitive! I am indeed a loud person when excited, but given that some systems don't have gain control, this leads to certain friends shushing me because my voice is so much louder now. My old headset had a fixed, plastic mic boom that was in-line with the left ear cup. I'm glad this headset has a flexible boom- I have to flex it AWAY from my head to bring my voice volume down! Even then, I still get a firm reminder from a friend now and then to quiet down.

Seems a bit paradoxical, doesn't it? Excellent noise cancellation yet overly sensitive to input.

All this said, I'm still using this headset and unless some friends tell me that I'm always unbearably loud, I intend to keep using this headset until it fails from wear. I just hope that at least this headset lasts a long time like my old one.

truthfully it works fine but it slides off my head and barely stays on. i was actually pretty excited about this headset and it really does work nice, just maybe for people who have a bigger head than me

My favorite headset by far! Comfortable, affordable, and very durable not cheap at all!

My daughter used these for about two months and they don’t even work anymore. She barely even used them. They sat on her dresser with her Xbox for a couple of months and then she randomly wanted to use them and they didn’t work so basically she never even got to use them. Smh
